Hair loss in women
Curly, straight, short, or long, your hair says a lot about you and your personality. For most women, hair is more than just a collection of fibers, it is a way to express themselves. That’s why losing it, especially since it’s not as common as in men, can be a terrifying situation. However, hair loss in women is part of everyday life. A woman can lose up to 150 strands of hair a day. Unfortunately, some may lose much more than that and suffer from thinning or bald patches. This can be due to underlying medical conditions or hereditary factors.
At Lazard, we offer some of the most advanced technologies available today for the treatment of female pattern hair loss. We invite you to undergo a complete evaluation with us to determine the causes of your hair loss.

What is female pattern hair loss?
In female pattern hair loss, there is a specific thinning of the hair on the scalp due to an increase in hair shedding or a general reduction in the volume of hair produced.
This type of condition in women is slightly different from male pattern baldness. Men typically have a receding hairline, which can progress to a bald spot on the top of the head. On the other hand, women generally experience overall thinning, or the middle part widens as the follicles stop producing the same volume of hair they did in the past.
Common causes of hair loss in women.
There are two types of hair loss in women: genetic and reactive. If you have family members with thinning hair, you are likely to experience the same due to your genetic programming. Reactive hair loss can be caused by certain triggering factors and is very different from the inherited hair loss gene. The most common causes include:
- Hormonal imbalance.
- Stress.
- Iron deficiency.
- Thyroid disease.
- Vitamin B deficiency.
- Substantial or drastic weight loss.
- Medications or medical treatments.
- Age.
